These are manuscripts reporting original and comprehensive research findings. The main text should not exceed 3,500 words. They should contain a maximum of six figures or tables.

Short communications: These are manuscripts reporting original research but which is limited in its scope, for example results of pilot studies or preliminary findings. The main text should not exceed 1,500 words and the number of figures or tables should be limited to four. Short communications must include a structured abstract. Not
more than 10 references.

Case reports
These are manuscripts reporting innovative cases important to the biomedical field. Case reports should be put in context by providing a brief review of the current knowledge and summarising the take home message and recommendations for clinical practice. The main text should not exceed 1,500 words and the number of figures or tables should be limited to four. Case reports must include a structured abstract. Not
more than 10 references.

Reviews: These are manuscripts reporting reviews of published or unpublished data.
Reviews must be systematic, using a predefined methodology, a comprehensive literature search and standard Methods of reporting. The text should be limited to 4,000 words as well. Reviews must include a structured abstract.
Editorials
These are opinion-based manuscripts addressing contemporary issues in biomedicine including issues in manuscript published by the journal, published elsewhere, or simply issues being discussed and debated in biomedical circles. They should be limited to 1000 words. References should be provided. Letters to the editor These are manuscripts addressing specific issues published by the journal. They should be limited to 1000 words. References should be provided.
